11.2 Million Nigerians Live With Diabetes – Obi Expresses Worries
By Peter Obi
Today, as we mark the World Diabetes Day 2022, we are reminded of the need to pursue concerted efforts towards combating diabetes as a critical global health issue.
Health experts believe that about 11.2 million people are living with diabetes in Nigeria.
We must, therefore, note the factors that encourage the incidence of diabetes and put preventive measures in place, while ensuring unfettered access to diabetes care for those living with diabetes.
At the foundation of it all, is an aggressive investment in our health sector, which remains a critical part of our national development.
I promise to revive our health sector, and ensure that at the grassroots level, all Nigerians have access to basic healthcare delivery for a more healthy and productive living.
