
Abuja: Amidst Terrorists Takeover Threat, Buhari Leaves Nigeria For London
Information from the Presidency has indicated that President Muhammadu Buhari has left Nigeria for London.
According to Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, President Muhammadu Buhari left Nigeria for London on Monday.
President Muhammadu left Nigeria after he returned from Owerri, the Imo State capital, where he had declared opened three days conference and retreat for senior police officers.
Femi Adesina said President Muhammadu Buhari left Nigeria for routine medical check-up.
OsazuwaAkonedo reports that President Muhammadu Buhari is leaving Nigeria, and to spend almost two weeks in London at a period of growing tension in the nation’s capital, Abuja, following threats of terrorists planning to takeover the federal capital territory.
“President Muhammadu Buhari leaves for London, United Kingdom, October 31, 2022, for routine medical check-up.
“He returns to the country in the second week of November, 2022”, Femi Adesina said in a statement issued and made available on Monday afternoon.
President Muhammadu Buhari before leaving Abuja to Imo state had summoned service chiefs to an emergency security meeting, following the growing tension of rumoured planned takeover of the capital territory by terrorists.
A statement issued on Sunday by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, indicated that, President Muhammadu Buhari cancelled and postponed the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, NASENI new complex commissioning.
“President Muhammadu Buhari will on Monday meet with security chiefs in the nation’s capital, Abuja, to further review and strengthen security network in the country.
“The President, who was initially scheduled to commission the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) new Technology and Innovation Complex, will receive briefs from the security chiefs, and interject on areas that need more attention.
“The commissioning of the NASENI complex will hold on a later date’, Garba Shehu said.
