
APC Loses Kano As Collation Officer Collapses Entrance To INEC Headquarters
Independent National Elections Commission INEC has declared the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP candidate in the Kano state governorship election, Yusuf Abba Kabir, winner of the March 18 gubernatorial election in the state.
INEC declared NNPP candidate, Abba Kabir winner after the Collation officer, Professor Muhammad Yushau, for Kura Local Government Area in Kano State collapsed on Sunday night at the entrance of the INEC headquarters and now currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital.
Daily trust had reported that his colleague from Garun Malam, Muhammad Shuaibu Abubakar, who came in the same vehicle with him presented the results on his behalf which was assisted by the Electoral Officer, Maryam Adamu Abdullahi of Kura Local Government Area.
According to the results released by Ahmad Dokko Ibrahim, the returning officer for Kano State Governorship election, Yusuf polled a total of 1,019,602 votes, while Yusuf Gawuna of the APC secured 890,705 votes.
A lot of people took to the streets of Kano State to celebrate the victory of NNPP candidate, Yusuf Abba Kabir on Monday morning.
Some persons also set ablaze the house of Kano based musician, Kahutu Rarara after INEC declared the NNPP candidate winner of the Guber Poll.
Kahutu sang for APC governorship candidate Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, during the political campaign.
The govnor-elect, Yusuf Abba Kabir has appealed to his supporters to celebrate his victory in a peaceful manner.
