
Army Captures Fleeing Unknown Gunmen Member In Delta, Display More Recovered Biafra Flags, Uniforms, Beagle Bombs
Nigerian Army has paraded a wounded suspected member of Unknown Gunmen who escaped from the joint security offensive attack on the hideout of the armed men in Asaba, the Delta State capital on Saturday early morning.
The Nigerian Army paraded the suspect alongside with five small handing bombs referred to as Beagles including more Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB flags, uniforms and accoutrements.
Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Nigerian Army Public Relations, in a statement on Saturday said that the wounded suspect was arrested same day after he escaped with bullet wounds when Nigerian soldiers in a joint operation with the Department of State Services, DSS invaded the gunmen camp in a high ground forested area in Asaba, the Delta Capital in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Onyema Nwachukwu in the news release titled; “TROOPS IN PURSUIT OF FLEEING IPOB FIGHTERS ASABA HAVE CAPTURED WOUNDED FIGHTER, RECOVERED ADDITIONAL FIRE ARMS, OTHER ITEMS” stated in quote: “Recall that troops of 63 Brigade operating under 6 Division Nigerian Army in the early hours of today Saturday 22 July 2023 destroyed an IPOB/ ESN enclave in a forested high ground in Asaba.
“The troops who are on further exploit and pursuit of the fleeing IPOB fighters have captured one wounded fighter and recovered several additional items from the criminals. Some of the items recovered are four Motorcycles, four Double Barrel guns, five AK 47 Magazines, 18 rounds of Live 7.62mm Special ammunition, 6 Mobile phones, two Power banks, six Boafeng Communication Radios and Chargers, an Android phone, one HP Laptop, 13 IPOB flags, one Power generating set, one Gas Cylinder, IPOB Uniforms and accoutrements as well as five improvised Beagles. Other items are two ATM cards and a Wrist Watch”.
OsazuwaAkonedo had reported that men of the Nigerian Army in a coordinated offensive attack with other security agencies on the hideout of Unknown Gunmen in Asaba, the Delta State capital in the early morning of Saturday invaded and dislodged the Unknown Gunmen who surrounded their camp with Biafra Flags.
According to statement issued by the Nigerian Army spokesperson, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu few hours after the offensive attack, the armed men are members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and its affiliate, the Eastern Security Network, ESN.
IPOB statement following the claim by the Nigerian Army is yet to be made available.
The army spokesperson said the gunmen engaged the security operatives in a gun battle but they were overpowered. Adding, the gunmen ran away from the camp following the superior firepower of the security operatives which led to one of the armed men being arrested at the spot while another alwas arrested trying to escape from the attack.
