
Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare II Personally Attends Alaghodaro Summit
Benin Monarch, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II on Friday personally led other Palace chiefs to attend the 2022 edition of Alaghodaro Summit organized by the Edo State Government under the leadership of Governor Godwin Obaseki.
The summit maybe the first public event not organized by the Palace or Church, the Monarch has attended personally ever since he became the Oba on October 20, 2016.
Soon after he became the Oba, Oba Ewuare II paid familiarization or post coronation thank you visits to numbers of states in Nigeria. The Monarch also visited President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja among other governors, but His Royal Majesty, outside the thank you visits, has not been seen attending any public event organized either by governments or private individuals.
Inline with Benin Culture, Palace chiefs in numbers usually represent the Oba when invited for an event.
Historically, Benin Monarchs hardly attend events in person.
Alaghodaro, a bini word, meaning, progress or moving forward, is a summit organized by Edo State Government to mark the 6th anniversary of Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration in the state.
Alaghodaro summit featured private investors and other key stakeholders in the state to strike strategic partnerships required to industrialize the state or move it forward.
Chairman of Alaghodaro summit planning committee, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, said while welcoming guests at the event that there was need to entrench frequent and constructive conversations between private and public sector in order to make policies to drive growth.
