
Buhari Orders NAF To Publish Investigative Reports Of All Military Plane Crashes
President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria has ordered the Nigerian Air Force to publish the investigative reports into all military plane crashes in the country.
President Muhammadu Buhari in press release on Wednesday signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu gave the order while mourning the deaths of two Air Force officers that died on Tuesday afternoon in a military plane crash in Kaduna state.
According to President Muhammadu Buhari, he welcomed the decision of the Nigerian Air Force to set up investigative panel to unravel the cause of the Tuesday plane crash. Adding, past military plane crash investigative reports should also be published.
President Muhammadu Buhari also said that the Nigerian Air Force should ensure all recommendations in the investigative reports are implemented to avoid future occurrence.
“I welcome the decision by the NAF authorities to investigate this accident, but I also call on them to publish and implement the recommendations of the reports of past investigations into air accidents, with a view to preventing future tragedies and putting closure to the families and friends of the deceased,” President Muhammadu Buhari said.
It would be recalled that almost a year, military plane crash killed the then Chief of Army Staff, lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru and ten other military officers while on official visit to Kaduna state.
Nigerian Army last month discovered the wreckage of the Nigeria fighter jet that crashed in Sambisa Forest on March 31, 2021 with two soldiers onboard while carrying out attack on Boko Haram terrorists in the forest.
