
Buhari Signs New Law Night To Handover
Information from the Presidency few minutes ago indicated that President Muhammadu Buhari has assented to a bill or signed a new law few hours to the expiration of his tenure.
According to a statement tweeted less than two hours to the expiration of President Muhammadu Buhari tenure, Bashir Ahmad, the Special Assistant to the President on Digital Communications, said, the new law established a commission to cater for Almajiri and out-of-school children to prevent destitution and exploitation.
Bashir Ahmad statement reads in quote; “President Muhammadu Buhari has assented to the bill seeking to create a commission to cater to Almajiri and out-of-school children to prevent destitution and exploitation.
“The Bill sponsored by Balarabe Shehu Kakale and 18 others is titled: “Bill for an Act to Establish National Commission for Almajiri Education and out of School Children to Provide for a Multimodal System of Education to Tackle the Menace of Illiteracy, Develop Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Programmes, Prevent Youth Poverty, Delinquency and Destitution in Nigeria; and for Related Matters (HB.2023),”
“When established, according to the bill sponsors, the Commission will “be responsible for providing skills acquisition and entrepreneurship programmes development for children and teenagers through schools to reduce the rate of poverty, and lessen delinquency and destitution in Nigeria”.
A statement from one of President Muhammadu Buhari spokespersons, Garba Shehu indicated that, following his assent to the National Commission for Almajiri and Out of School Children Education Bill 2023, President Muhammadu Buhari also approved the appointment of the outgoing Member of the House of Representatives for Kano Municipal, Honourable (Dr) Sha’aban Sharada as Executive Secretary.
Honourable Sharada has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication from Bayero University, Kano and a Master of Business Administration from University of Chichester, United Kingdom, according to the Presidency.
