Executive Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has said his government is committed to the promotion of the use of technology and digital tools in enhancing the socio-economic development of the State.
Governor Obaseki, who was represented by the Commissioner for Digital Economy, Science, and Technology, Honourable Ogbeide Ifaluyi-Isibor, made this known during his welcome address at the official commissioning of the Igbinedion Hub/Ehizua Creative Technology College in Benin City.
Honourable Ifaluyi-Isibor said, “this initiative adds to the numerous tech startups operating in Edo State, helping to promote innovation through technology in our State, which in turn increases the economic viability of our local businesses.
“As a Ministry, we will continue to promote, support, collaborate and partner with MSMEs in Edo State to improve their productivity and boost the digital economy of our state.
“Our desire is to leverage on ICT to boost business in all facets of our economy, and we are, as a matter of fact, attracting more investors into our State and our people will benefit from it”.
The Chancellor of Igbinedion University, Sir Chief Dr. Gaberial Osawaru Igbinedion, represented by the Deputy Chancellor and former Governor of Edo State, Lucky Igbinedion, said, “this initiative is not only to uplift communication technology but also to provide employment and boost scientific skills for the younger generation”.
The Deputy Chancellor appreciated the Esama of Benin, Sir Chief Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, for giving his blessing and support to the project which is aimed at boosting the face of technology in the State.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of Igbinedion University, Professor Lawrence Ezemoyen, explained that the University has keen interest in digital partnerships, hence the need for the initiative.
Highpoint of the ceremony was the official commissioning of the Hub and a guided tour round the Facility.
