Some officers from the lagos State Police command visited his Allen Avenue home on Sunday morning to arrest him but met his absence. The officers were stationed at his Allen Avenue home but were later asked to leave the area, according to sources.
The trail started after the Inspector General of Police, Baba Alkali, ordered for Seun’s arrest after a video of him assaulting a police officer surfaced online. The singer was seen pushing and also slapping a police officer on the Third mainland bridge.
Earlier, Seun Kuti shared a post on his IG page Saturday night, where he stated that the officer tried to kill him.
The officer he assaulted has been said to have reported to the command headquarters and has given his statement of what transpired between him and the singer.
On Sunday, Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, said the Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, has sought his legal services following the singer’s assault on a police officer.
According to Punch Newspaper, Femi Falana said the singer has enough evidence to defend himself.
“I am his lawyer and he has briefed me. He certainly has evidence. This is not the first time he is dealing with the police.”
Falana also stated that the singer would turn himself in on Monday, May 15.
“He is going to report himself to the police tomorrow morning. There is no problem at all.”
Femi Falana who represented the singer’s father, Fela during his agitation against the Nigerian government, was also arrested in 1993 following his legal defence and actions in favour of the late Afrobeat singer, Fela Kuti.
