Israel Defence Forces, IDF has accused Palestinian fighters, Hamas of refusing the Shifa Hospital from receiving the 300 liters of fuel it supplied directly to the hospital on Sunday night for urgent medical purposes following outcry for weeks by the medical staff of power outage.
IDF in a statement on Sunday midnight, said: “Our troops risked their lives to hand-deliver 300 liters of fuel to the Shifa hospital for urgent medical purposes. Hamas forbade the hospital from taking it. Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry has been warning for weeks that its hospitals are running out of fuel. If so, why would they prevent the hospital from receiving it?
“The IDF provided 300 liters of fuel for urgent medical purposes to the Shifa Hospital, but there was a problem that prevented the fuel from getting to its destination.
“Why? Because the CEO of the Hamas Health Ministry, Yosef Abu Rish, forbade it”.
But the Director of the Shifa Hospital, Muhammad Abu Salmiya said the Israeli
claims that the hospital refused fuel
are “propaganda”.
Speaking to Al Jazeera, Abu Salmiya said: “Israeli officials reached out to me twice about providing the hospital with fuel: once to offer 2,000 litres [440 gallons] and then another to offer 300 litres [66 gallons]. Keep in mind the hospital needs from 8,000 [1,760 gallons] to 12,000 litres [2,640 gallons] per day.
“The same person called me at 2am and said the 300 litres can be picked up from a specific spot that is dangerous and susceptible to shelling. I told him to send it or a larger quantity so we can operate a generator via the Red Cross.
“Israel wants to show the world that it is not killing babies. It wants to whitewash its image with 300 litres of fuel, which barely last 30 minutes”.
Residents in Gaza posted online that dozens of new-born babies have been detached from their incubators at Al Shifa Gaza hospital due to power outage resorting to oxygen running out.
Footages posted online showed dead bodies of estimated 100 Palestinians in the courtyard of Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza.
We learnt that the footage was posted online on Friday, with claims that the dead bodies are still kept in the open space following Israeli siege on the hospital as Israeli snipers allegedly prevented all attempts to bury the dead bodies in a mass grave.
Unverified report credited to the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Muneer Al Barsh, indicated that stray dogs entered the courtyard and started eating the dead bodies.
A supporter of Israel retaliatory attacks on Gaza in an X social media post on Sunday, said: “Last night, the IDF delivered 300 liters of fuel for urgent medical purposes to Gaza’s Shifa Hospital. Soon after, Hamas confiscated the fuel. This is what we are dealing with. Israelis are risking their lives to get fuel to patients and Hamas is stealing it. All accusations regarding fuel should henceforth be directed to the tunnels under Shifa hospital, where Hamas is hiding like rats”.
Photos and videos from the Shifts Hospital indicated that medical personnel have devised a temporary means to save the lives of the premature babies as they were kept warm in a large foil paper since Al Shifa hospital’s generator ran out of fuel on Saturday. “Dr. Marwan Abu Safa head of Surgery, sent this update this evening from a makeshift neonatal ICU”, an X user tweeted on Sunday night.
There is a report of a doctor killed near the Shifa hospital. The report reads in quote:
“Dr. Hammam Alloh, physician in nephrology at Al Shifa hospital, has been killed by an airstrike this morning with his father in their house, next to Al Shifa hospital. His mother who is also a doctor, Dr. Haifa Al Sarraj, is trapped with other relatives including children in the vicinity of the house. They are unable to move and any attempt to move comes under heavy Israeli fire. One relative is also currently alive and trapped under rubble. They have been in touch with the Red Cross who are unable to evacuate them. The Israeli Defence Forces need to ceasefire in the Abu Hasira neighbourhood so they can be safely evacuated.”
Israel military on Sunday begged residents in Gaza to relocate, assuring them safe passage from Al Shifa hospital via Al-Wahda street.
The Israeli military statement as translated by Google reads this: “Residents of North Gaza, I have several important messages for you this morning: Hundreds of thousands of residents have moved over recent days through the humanitarian safe corridor, either by car or on foot along Salah al-Din Street.
“🔴 Today (Sunday), Salah El-Din Street will also be opened to your traffic, from 09:00 in the morning until 16:00 in the afternoon in order to move south beyond Wadi Gaza. Do not surrender to Hamas – your continued presence in the region exposes you to very great danger!
“🔴 Today, Sunday, between the hours of 10:00 am and 14:00 pm, there will be a temporary tactical cessation of military activities for humanitarian purposes in the village of Jabalia and Ezbet Mlin in order to supply supplies and move to the Salah al-Din road south. We call on residents to take advantage of this temporary suspension of fires and move south from the humanitarian corridor via Salah al-Din Street.
“🔴 The self-evacuation corridor will also operate from Al-Shifa Medical Complex via Al-Wahda Street and then to Salah Al-Din Road and move to the south of Wadi Gaza.
“Join hundreds of thousands of residents who have realized that Hamas has lost control of the northern Gaza Strip and have decided to protect themselves and their family members by moving south to the area south of Wadi Gaza. If Hamas elements still prevent you from doing so, contact us by text via Telegram @gaza_saver or by phone number:+97250-341-0322”
