Suspected killer of a 21-year-old Augusta Osedion, an undergraduate, who was seen in luxury outing with her boyfriend before she was killed has been arrested.
Mother of the deceased, Cordelia Okonye in a recorded video narrated how the self confessed suspect, Nnanyereugo Benjamin Best known as Killaboi was arrested in Sierra Leone on Thursday.
Killaboi had earlier in July, 2023 made a post via his Instagram page, claiming he allegedly stabbed and killed his girlfriend, Augusta Osedion by accident after an argument.
Killaboi was arrested on Thursday in Sierra Leone after Lagos State Police Command of the Nigeria Police Force declared him wanted on October 10th, 2023 for the alleged murder of his 21-year-old girlfriend.
According to the bereaved mother on Saturday, despite several pleas to her daughter’s alleged murderer to turn himself in, he chose to ignore them.
Okonye said she decided to send a passport photograph of Killaboi to all her relatives as her pleas were ignored until his eventual arrest.
“He blocked me after alleging I pimped my daughter out to men, which I never did.
“So what I did, I sent his passport photographs to all my relatives, friends, and family across the globe and told them he has a tattoo that identifies him.
“So along the line, my cousin in Sierra Leone on the first hinted to me that ‘I saw somebody like him. Immediately, my son and a cousin went to Sierra Leone.
“A day before my son and cousin got to Sierra Leone, they declared Killaboi wanted. He was already hiding in the country.
“The commissioner of police was contacted. Killaboi killed my daughter and left her corpse to rot before taking her phone.
The bereaved mother stated that Killaboi used fake names to secure Sierra Leone international passport to travel outside the country’s shores after the murder.
“Best killed my daughter on the 13th of July and got a Sierra Leonean passport on the 28th of July. He was eventually arrested yesterday (Thursday).”
“One per cent of the pain is gone this morning that Benjamin is caught.”
