Idiaraba Is Safe, We Went There Well Prepared – Police
Nigeria Police Force has assured the general public that Idiaraba area of Lagos State is safe as its men who went to the area to enforce the Lagos State Government ban on motorcycles also known as Okada were well prepared.
The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Benjamin Hundeyin stated this in a tweet few hours ago.
According to the Police, there is nothing to worry about because the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi is personally coordinating the police tasks enforcing the ban in the area.
“Idiaraba is safe. Nothing to worry about. Just some lawless motorcycle operators trying to cause trouble after their motorcycles were impounded. Our men are fully on ground. CP Abiodun Alabi personally coordinating our response.
“They can’t fight because Taskforce went well prepared. They were just causing a scene after Taskforce left with some of their impounded motorcycles. “@rrslagos767 and men from the Area Command have since been drafted there. Absolutely nothing to worry about”, the Police PRO said.
Onlookers have sent video and photo messages to people asking them to avoid the Idiaraba area of the state as Okada riders suspected to be mostly Hausa by tribe are having a clash with team of Police men enforcing ban on motorcycles in the area.
Some of the videos and images show burnt tires and large of people scampering for safety as sporadic gunshots rent the air.
