IGP, Others Hold Night Ceremony At Airport To Welcome Buhari
When looking for an un-serious minded management team or system, it may not be wrong to mention President Muhammadu Buhari led government.
We have watched over the years since President Muhammadu Buhari came into Power in 2015, the way and manner the President has succeeded in making the office of the Chief of Defence Staff, other service chiefs including the Inspector General of Police looked like job functions not too critical to the wellbeing of the country.
Though, for some time now, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor has stopped going personally to the Airport to welcome President Muhammadu Buhari back to town whenever he traveled out of the country.
But, the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba Alkali on Sunday night led other top government officials to wait, hold night ceremony at the International Airport in Abuja, just to welcome President Muhammadu Buhari back to Nigeria after the President spent two weeks in London to undergo medical check up.
This is not to say, Nigeria is currently free from security threat.
As bandits, Boko Haram, ISWAP, Unknown Gunmen, Kidnapers, Assassins, Militants, among other terrorists organizations continued to kill security operatives across the country.
One would ask, which time, does a serious minded IGP has, to wait and receive the President at the airport. When security issues are stockpiling unabated. Things getting worse day in, day out.
America, UK and other foreign governments continued to issue warning to their citizens to boycott certain states in Nigeria due to imminent danger posed by terrorists.
What is special about President Muhammadu Buhari returning to Nigeria from UK that worth celebrating. Were they expecting him to die during the medical check-up process that God Almighty saved him. Hence, that warrant such celebration.
The regular celebration of President Muhammadu Buhari returning to Nigeria at the airport by Service Chiefs maybe a way of mocking Nigerians over their choice of president.
Bad as it maybe, the Presidency in a statement accompanied with photograph, said President Muhammadu Buhari who just returned to Nigeria on Sunday night, few minutes after, “is currently meeting with our presidential candidate, Asiwajuola Tinubu and Chairman of great party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, ahead of the formal presidential campaign flag-off later in the week”.
