Uduak Akpan, has been sentenced to death by hanging for the murder of Iniubong Umoren, a job seeker in April, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Justice Basset Nkanang pronounced death sentence on Uduak Akpan at the state High Court sitting in Akwa Ibom on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uduak Akpan was standing trial for rape and murder of Iniubong Umoren, a graduate of of Philosophy, University of Uyo, who was seeking for a job while awaiting mobilisation for the compulsory National Youth Service Corps, NYSC scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was a mild tension at the court, shortly after the Court ruled that Uduak Akpan should be killed by hanging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was gathered that Uduak Akpan resisted security operatives and made attempt to run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vanguard newspaper reports the court judgement thus:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Justice Bassey Nkanang of the Akwa Ibom State High Court on Thursday sentenced Uduak Akpan to death by hanging for the murder of Iniubong Umoren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Umoren, a graduate of Philosophy, University of Uyo, was killed on April 2021. She was job hunting while awaiting mobilisation for the compulsory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Late Iniubong Umoren, a graduate of Philosophy, University of Uyo, (UNIUYO) was raped, murdered and buried in a shallow grave by a suspected serial rapist and killer, Uduak-Abasi Akpan, in April 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uduak-Abasi Akpan had lured his victim, who was 26 years old, to his family residence at Nung Ikono Obio village in Uruan local government area with a job offer where he had allegedly raped, murdered, and buried her in a shallow grave within the premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The body was later exhumed from the shallow grave by the Police team, who were guided by the prime suspect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recall that remains of late Iniubong Umoren was interred in her hometown at Nung Ita Ikot Essien of Oruk Anam local government area of Akwa Ibom State, on May 14, 2021, after a postmortem carried out by the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital (UUTH).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vanguard had reported that the deceased, an orphan and the last child of family of four, was raised by one Mrs. Ekpo, following the demise of her biological mother when She was only two years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iniobong Umoren, a graduate of University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom state was brutally murdered after she was invited for a job interview on the 29th of April by Uduak Frank Akpan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
