Israeli Army Spokesperson, Jonathan Conricus said earlier that the nation army had on Tuesday targeted and hit 130 Hamas military base in Gaza as an initial phase of retaliation to the over 200 rockets the Hamas fired into Israel from Gaza.
Local authorities said Israelis have been sleeping under bomb shelters since on Monday the Hamas fired multiple rockets now estimated to be 1,500 rockets into the country killing about 6 persons.
Tensions have been running high since last week after an Israeli court ordered the eviction of Palestinian families in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of East Jerusalem.

Israel occupied East Jerusalem during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war and annexed the entire city in 1980, in a move that has never been recognized by the international community.
It would be recalled that on Monday, some 520 Palestinians and 32 Israeli police officers were injured in fresh clashes with Israeli police on the Esplanade of the Mosques, Islam’s third holiest site and Judaism’s holiest, and in other parts of East Jerusalem.
Hamas had threatened Israel with a new military escalation if its forces did not withdraw from the Esplanade by 18:00 (15:00 G.M.T).
Hamas is an Islamic movement co-founded in 1987 by Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and Abdel Aziz Al-Rantissi, with its origin drawn from the Muslim Brotherhood Movement in Egypt.
Hamas in 1989 kidnapped and killed two Israeli soldiers.
Israeli Defense Forces in retaliation arrested Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and sentenced the Islamic cleric to life imprisonment, in addition, deported over 400 Hamas activists.

Sheikh Ahmed Yassin was released in 1997 following Israel arrangement with Jordan over failed assassination attempt on Hamas leader.
Israeli Helicopter gunship on March 22, 2004 fired missile and killed Sheikh Ahmed Yassin and others after early morning prayers in Gaza.
Hamas in 2007, after coming out victorious in violent clashes in Gaza, took control of Gaza and since, the Islamic movement has been building its military might and launching attacks against Israel, Egypt and others.
