Imo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has said that the Pregnant Woman, Mrs Sandra Onyema allegedly stabbed to death by an angry youth, Chikere Okoro at Nekede area of Owerri, the Imo State capital recently is alive, and she’s not dead as rumoured by sympathisers that led to the suspect almost mobbed to death.
Imo State Police Command in a statement, few days ago, advised the general public against Jungle justice or any act of resorting to self help.
The suspect, Chikere Okoro, allegedly stabbed the pregnant woman to death.
It was also rumoured that the suspect, was among the April, 2021 escapees of the Imo State Correctional Center.
It was said, the suspect had approached the Pregnant Woman for alms at Umuejechi Nekede autonomous community in Owerri West Local Government and irked that the pregnant woman snubbed him, the suspect brought out a dagger from his trousers, stabbed the victim in the stomach and, thereafter, took to his heels.
“Enraged by the development, youths in the vicinity ran after him and succeeded in his apprehension, amid several attempts to stab them.
“The victim was rushed to a hospital where she was certified dead, due to loss of blood”, one of the rumors spilled.
But, the police in its statement, never referred to the suspect as one of those that escaped from Imo State Prison or had any former record as a prison inmate.
The Police narrated how the suspect was rescued from the mob after he was inflicted with several matchets.
