Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar has described as condemnable the killing of a student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Deborah Yakubu over alleged blasphemous statement against Prophet Mohammed.
The Sultan in a Press statement signed by the Danburan, Secretary, Sultanate Council of Sokoto, Saidu Muhammadu Maccido said everyone should remain calm and the security operatives should bring the perpetrators of the incident to justice.
Sultan of Sokoto described the killing of the female student as unjustifiable.
“The Sultanate Council has learnt with dismay the unfortunate happenings at the Shehu Shagari College of Education, (SSCOE) Sokoto that led to the loss of life of a female student of the Institution.
“The Sultanate Council condemned the incident in it’s totality and has urged the security agencies to bring perpetrators of the unjustifiable incident to justice.
“The Sultanate Council has urged all to remain calm and ensure peaceful co-existence among all people of the State and nation”, Sultan said.
It would be recalled that a victim identified as Deborah Yakubu, 200 level Home Economics student at the Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto was beaten and burnt to death on allegations of blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed SAW on Thursday morning.
