Life Not That Bad In Nigeria – Reno Omokri
By Reno Omokri
People died from a mass shooting in America 2 days ago. You don’t see Americans saying ‘America failed them’. There were deaths all over Europe from all sorts of accidents last week. Nobody said ‘Europe happened to them’. Several badly designed buildings collapsed in both China and Russia, yet their people don’t curse their country. Cut Nigeria some slack. Life is not that bad in Nigeria! We have some bad leaders. But we also have good ones too.
It cost less to graduate in Nigeria than it does in some other nations with a lower standard of education. Plus you get bursaries. We have shortages of doctors, but you can still walk into a hospital and be seen by a doctor. Try that in Europe and America and you will bless Nigeria after waiting for months to see a doctor. We also have the NYSC program that allows you intern after graduation and get a stipend.
Millions of Nigerians don’t pay taxes. Yet they benefit from what tax payers in other countries don’t benefit from. Free education. Free pipe borne water. Free public hospitals (even if they are not world class). Nigeria has its own good points.
So, let’s stop over blowing any negative thing about Nigeria as if it is a hellish place. Nigeria is fun. Go to England and boredom may almost kill you. In America, it is not all fun and games. America is a workers paradise. You work. And then work some more to maintain the illusion of wealth.
There are advantages and disadvantages to being a Nigerian. If you must hype the disadvantages, also hype the advantages!
Stop Telling People Your Plans
Stop telling people your plans. No exception to this rule. ‘But he is my brother’. Did Joseph’s brothers not sell him into slavery after hearing Joseph’s dream?
Even in heaven, how many people has God told the date of Judgement Day? Nobody! Not even our Lord and Saviour knows-Matthew 24:36.
If the Almighty God keeps secrets, why will you, a mere mortal man, blab your plans to whoever cares to listen?
That’s how you fail! If your mouth is eager to tell, then enter your closet and tell your plans to God secretly in prayer!
Many Nigerians Eat Too Much Red Meat, Apply Bleaching Creams
Many Nigerians eat too much red meat and unnecessarily apply bleaching creams to their lovely Nubian skin.
After 30-40 years of such abuse, their liver or kidney naturally packs up. And we start blaming innocent village people for the sudden death of our loved ones!
There are almost 100 books in The Bible. Yet, the only one written in praise of a woman’s beauty is Songs of Solomon, a love letter to a Black woman-SOS 1:6.
Stop bleaching and toning (a politer word for the same bleaching) that your lovely Nubian skin. It is ALREADY beautiful! Beautiful Black skin is why Agbani Darego won the Miss World pageant in 2001!
Why Nigerian Women Suffer Kidney Diseases, Need Transplant
According to The Dailymail (quoting the WHO) 77% of Nigerian women use bleaching creams, which is largely why 10% of Nigerians suffer kidney diseases, resulting in desperation to get a kidney transplant.
What are we waiting for before we ban these so called ‘organic creams’? You can imagine the monumental financial loss we suffer due to health tourism, and productive man hours lost to ill health, all because we want to ‘yellow’ by force.
The National Orientation Agency urgently need to implement a campaign promoting natural Black beauty. Maryam Babangida had natural complexion and hair.
Yet, no First Lady before or after her has been as beautiful and elegant. Black is beautiful. Reject bleaching and love the beautiful Nubian skin you are in!
