Barley one week after bloody Easter Sunday between unknown gunmen and men of the Nigerian Army that left some persons mostly innocent civilians dead and some injured at Orlu in Imo state, the state Governor, Hope Uzodimma has said the long years of misrule in the state has hampered the development of Orlu and and thus the reason the state young men and women are enlisting into all sort of criminality.

Governor Hope Uzodimma stated this at the weekend while speaking as a special guest at the Orlu Zone Development Forum held at Nkwerre country club.

Governor Hope Uzodimma words read:

During the weekend, I had the pleasure of joining my kinsmen as a Special Guest of Honor at the Orlu Zone Development Forum, held at Nkwerre Country Club.

The Forum as convened by His Royal Majesty Eze (Dr) Cletus Ilomuanya, on behalf of Orlu Leaders and Chaired by Barrister Eze Duruiheoma SAN, was to chart a new course for the sustenance of peace and development of our region.

The development of Orlu had been hampered by long misrule, mismanagement of opportunities and misappropriation of resources availed to us by God Almighty. The resulting effect of this, is the ease at which our young men and women are conscripted into all sorts of criminality.

I re-echoed to our Leaders, that within this period I superintend the affairs of Imo State as the Executive Governor, I shall serve to bequeath unprecedented development in Orlu and Imo State at large.

Consequently, I called on our Leaders of Orlu, to set up a Technical Committee that would interface with the State Government for the purpose of designing and implementing a developmental model for the region.

My administration is here to build legacy projects and institutionalize systems, not just for the transformation of Orlu Zone but Imo State as a whole. Therefore, I will not yield to the current temptations sponsored by supposedly aggrieved politicians, who aim at creating instability against my administration.

In my capacity as the Governor of our dear Imo State, I shall continue unhindered, in ensuring the holistic safety of lives and properties of all Imolites and residents of the State.
