SUNDAY MORNING REFLECTIONS ON THESE TIMES
Fuel tanker exploded on Otedola bridge, Lagos and with several cars destroyed; some noise made and
possibly with someone saying ONLY … died.
Few days later, the noise died down.
Then we await another explosion even on the same spot…
IS THERE REALLY NO ACTION TO BE TAKEN T0 AVIOD THIS CYCLE OF DISASTERS?
2. A gruesome report of kidnapping.
If a prominent victim, then flurry of actions including the usual ‘we
are on top of it’.
Ransom is paid, and thanksgiving service for her or his release.
Then we wait for another round..
ARE THERE REALLY NO STEPS TO BE TAKEN TO CLEAR THE FOREST OF THESE HEARTLESS CRIMINALS ?
3. Saddening report of a fuel tanker running into a market located dangerously close to a busy express
road with lives lost.
So much noise made, and perhaps
a visit to the scene by a ‘big’ man. Then the noise dies dow…we are waiting for another disaster.
IS IT NOT POSSIBLE TO SET AND ENFORCE GUIDELINES ON LOCATION OF MARKETS?
4. Then comes this one; an unattached ‘container’ fell off a truck and smashed cars with their occupants.
Then much noise, the hapless emergency agency workers run around, followed by some pronouncements here and there and the noise died as the bereaved mourn their dead.
Then we await another disaster of this same nature and of even greater
ARE THERE REALLY N0 STEPS THAT CAN BE TAKEN TO AVOID A REPEAT?
