United Nations has declared 2021 as International Year of Fruits and Vegetables.
In a statement, the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, QU Dongyu, said the International Year of Fruits and Vegetables was launched on the 15th of December 2020, with an appeal to nations to improve healthy and sustainable food production through innovation and technology and to reduce food loss and waste.
According to the United Nations, fruits and vegetables have multiple health benefits; they can strengthen the immune system and help
combat malnutrition.
