Journalists in Edo State have expressed shock over the death of one of the oldest ‘practising veterans’ in the State, Sunny Ojeiduma.
The veteran journalist has been in practice for over 50 years.
He died at the University of Benin teaching Hospital, UBTH on Sunday morning after a brief illness.
Ojeiduma who is survived by a wife and 12 Children, hails from Uhomora in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State.
The late journalist worked for the defunct Community Concord, A.M Newspapers , The City People News Magazine. Prime People magazine, The News magazine and Tempo magazine
Until his death, PA Sunny Ojeiduma was a member of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Edo State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
Chairman of the Correspondents Chapel, Mrs. Nefishetu Yakubu led members on a condolence visit to his residence on Monday in Benin City.
Yakubu urged the bereaved family of Pa Sunny Ojeiduma to be strong and described his contributions to the journalism profession as profound.
Speaking, widow of the late journalist, Mrs. Joy Ojeiduma, described her husband’s death as a great loss.
She revealed that when her husband was sick, the family took him to several hospitals in a bid to restore his health before he passed on.
He also floated a community newspaper called “Community News”
He died at the age of 75 years
