Nigeria Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has called on the general public to ensure that their petitions to the commssion are well written and typed.
The commission made the call some hours ago on its social media handle.
The commssion said it does not behave like Police Station where people are arrested simply because someone complained or submitted a petition.
It has been observed that most petitions sent to us via our email: email@example.com are not properly drafted or even typed.
PLEASE NOTE: We receive thousands of emails daily from all over the world.
We attend to all and vet the petitions.
Those that don’t fall within our mandate we transfer (it) to sister agencies which have such mandate.
Those that we have power by law to pursue undergoes a process and then it’s assigned to a team of investigators to open up the case.
We are NOT a Police station that will just move and arrest whoever you complain about just because you submitted a petition.
We must follow due process and our Standard Operating procedures.
