
My Prayers With People Of Uromi Over Devastating News From Edo State – Tony Elumelu
Founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, Tony Onyemaechi Elumelu has expressed sadness over the coordinated armed robbery attack on five banks in the Uromi town of Edo State on Thursday that left not less than seven persons dead and several businesses affected.
Tony Elumelu who is also the Chairman of the United Bank of Africa, UBA described the aftermath of the robbery attack as devastating.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Uromi, families and businesses affected by this unfortunate incident”, Tony Elumelu said.
It would be recalled a heavily armed robbery gang attacked First Bank, UBA, Zenith, Unity and Union Banks in the Uromi town yesterday.
A viral video shows the armed packing a lot of bags of cash into vehicle, while moving from one bank to another.
Residents said the robbery attack started at about 3pm and lasted till 6pm.
The robbers used mostly explosive devices to blow open the security doors of the banks and their vaults.

The total amount the armed robbers took away from the banks is yet to be officially stated.
Sources said the armed robbers took mostly 1,000 naira denomination.
A careful analysis shows one of the bags taken by the armed robbers may contain 40 packets of bundles estimated to be 20 million naira per bag.
