Nigerians have described today as a very sad and black friday in the Nigeria history as the Country Chief of Army Staff, General Ibrahim Attahiru dies in active service with eleven others in plane crash.

The plane was said to have crashlanded approaching Kaduna Airport run way.

The Nigerian Army is yet to issue a statement.

Nigerian Airforce has since confirmed the plane crash, adding the cause of the crash is yet unknown.

The wife, Fati Attahiru was rumoured to have died along with him on the plane crash but conflicting reports indicate the wife is alive.

According to Gombe State Governor, Hassan Dankwambo:
“Good night Soldiers!

“My sincere condolences to the families of all those who lost their lives in the ill fated plane crash that happened in Kaduna earlier today.

“May Almighty Allah forgive their sins and grant them Aljannah Firdaus”.
