General Officer Commanding, War against Obaseki, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole stylishly accepted defeat and surrendered to the victory of Godwin Obaseki at the just concluded Edo State governorship poll.
The former governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole accepted the outcome of the election in a video posted few moment after his media war lord, John Mayaki surrendered and accepted the outcome of the election that saw their long time rivalry, Governor Godwin Obaseki declared winner.
Analysing the character of Oshiomhole in the video, it shows Oshiomhole is seemingly warming up for another round of battle.
Comrade Adams Oshiomhole became governor of Edo state in 2008 by Court of Appeal affirming the popular votes he got during the 2007 governorship election in Edo state which the then president Olusegun Obasanjo obviously contributed in denying Adams Oshiomhole the electoral victory.
Oshiomhole was loved by so many people. People loved him most especially the way and manner he fought for the masses as president of the Nigeria Labour Congress and subsequently after the affirmation of his electoral victory by the Appeal Court, he became a major campaigner against godfatherism and electoral fraud.
Little do people know that Adams Oshiomhole was the biggest deceiver of all time.
It was like a case of the devil you know is far more better than the angel you don’t know.
Oshiomhole as governor conducted the worst form of local government election. Starting from the party primary to the main election, Adams Oshiomhole proves that he’s a deceiver and not a believer of what he preach or say.
Oshiomhole believes so much in selection. He was an enemy of election while he was a governor.
As governor, he had the opportunity to prove to the masses that one man one vote, no godfatherism campaign he launched is possible and doable in Nigeria. He betrayed the masses.
The successes he recorded in hand picking who becomes the local government chairman, Councillors, state house of assembly member made him to start behaving like a semi-god in some points in the state.
Prior to the unacceptable behavior of Adams Oshiomhole. The Edo State house of assembly which were mainly dominated by PDP members led by Late Hon. Zakawanu Garuba was seen frustrating the governor efforts in the development of the state.
The state budget was delayed. Accusations and counter accusations between the legislature and the executive over some portions in the state financial appropriation bill rented the air.
In one of the outing while working with the Nigerian Observer Newspaper, I walked into an event where the former governor of Bendel state, late Samuel Ogbemudia described Adams Oshiomhole as God sent man.
Quickly I put up my report. The news editor, Leo Atakpu gave the story the front page it deserves.
What was strange. Despite the fact that Adams Oshiomhole of Action Congress insulted and abused Samuel Ogbemudia in several occasions, Samuel Ogbemudia overlooked the insults and still made commendable comments about the governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
That not all, Samuel Ogbemudia as PDP chieftain condemned the activities of the PDP members in the Edo state house of assembly, appealing to Edo people to elect and give Oshiomhole friendly House of assembly.
This true and uncommon act of statesmanship humbled Oshiomhole.
Oshiomhole as governor started respecting the elder state man. Inviting the former governor, Samuel Ogbemudia to chair and moderate many government programmes and activities.
Edo people actually obeyed the instruction of Samuel Ogbemudia. But Oshiomhole abused the process. Oshiomhole took advantage of the opportunity and made himself an emperor worst than any other godfather that has ever lived in Edo state.
At some points, Oshiomhole was changing speaker of the Edo state house of assembly just the way and manner a prostitute use and dump women like a piece of wrapper.
Fortunately, the biggest mistake he made was to select and ensure the victory of Godwin Obaseki as governor.
Many people then saw Obaseki as a would-be puppet in the hands of Oshiomhole.
But after Godwin Obaseki election, things changed.
Early beginning of Obaseki government, the governor read riot act to all loyalists.
Oshiomhole’s dreaded and well known thug, Nomoless disobeyed. Obaseki arrested and subsequently detained him.
Amazingly, Kabaka hotel building was destroyed by Governor Obaseki.
This signal total change in the way and manner the immediate past governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole was managing the state resources.
Interestingly, this brought to mind what the former military war lord and Nigeria Civil war iconic soldier, Samuel Ogbemudia said and mean by the statement that Adams Oshiomhole is God sent man.
To the best of knowledge, it means what people expect Adams Oshiomhole to do that he could not, God used him to bring on board Godwin Obaseki as governor of necessity to protect the overall interest and ensure the betterment of the entire Edo people.
