
Police Arrests 35-Year-Old Man For Defiling 5 Minors In Adamawa
Police in Adamawa State have arrested a 35-year-old man, Wilson Sunday for defiling five female minors in the state.
Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force in a news release made available few minutes ago indicated that the suspect the police described as old habitual rapist was apprehended after raping 5 Minors between the age of 8 -14 in Bachure, Yola North Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
According to the Police, the suspect, Wilson Sunday, a resident of of Damilu in Yola North allegedly committed the crime from January 2023 and Subsequently Continue until he was arrested on June 4, 2023.
The Police said the suspect disguised himself and lured the victims into an uncompleted buildings away from the eyes of the public and took advantage of them while they were on their way going or returning from school, to have unlawful carnal knowledge of them.
The police further stated that the incident was reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Kofare by the parents of the victims having observed the unrepentant attitude of the suspect.
“Preliminary investigation so far reveals that the suspect is a father of two and now leaving alone after he separated with his wife. Investigation further reveals that the accused was once convicted for similar offence.
“The Commissioner of Police CP Afolabi Babatola expressed worry over the unfortunate incident and directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of CID to take over investigation and ensure diligent prosecution”, the police statement reads.
Another 22 years old suspect, Raphael Peter, a resident of Bulabuli, Michika Local Government was also arrested by the Police Command Operatives attached to Divisional Police Headquarters in Mubi North of Adamawa State for raping an 18-year-old student.
Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Babatola, however called on members of the public particularly parents to be very watchful of their kids against criminal minded elements who are roaming about seeking whom to take advantage of, urging them to report person or persons of suspicious character to the Police.
Adamawa State Commissioner of Police also called on the General public especially Parents to key into the Command’s Fight against all forms of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and promised to prosecute perpetrators in accordance with the extant laws
