Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to release the detained and legally freed Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo made the call on Saturday in Awka, the Anambra State capital during the National Campaign flag off of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA.
Governor Soludo said he will be the surety for Nnamdi Kanu if released.
Adding, he will provide accommodation for the IPOB leader upon released in Awka. Stressing, he will make him available anytime the Federal Government wants him.
Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo said Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is needed to sit in the round table discussion among the peace and reconcilation committee he had set up in order for the peace committee to complete their assignment of returning peace to Anambra State and the entire Southeast states.
Soludo said the release of Nnamdi Kanu is the only non-kinetic solution to the insecurity in the South East.
It would be recalled that the federal government of Nigeria rearrested in Kenya in a controversial circumstances and detained the IPOB leader at Department of Sate Services, DSS facilities in Abuja since 2021.
In October 2022, Appeal Court sitting in Abuja quashed all the terrorism and treasonable charges the Federal Government filed against the Biafra leader.
The Court ordered that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu should be released unconditionally as he has no case to answer.
Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari refused to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, filed appeal against the court judgement at the country’s apex Court, Supreme Court of Justice.
