Reno Omokri, former presidential spokesperson to Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on New Media has celebrated the Court conviction and two and a half years sentencing of his former co worker, Doyin Okupe, in a crime said to have occured when both were defending the then President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as media spokespersons.

Doyin Okupe was then the Special Assistant to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on Media, a period he was accused and sentenced to two years and a half imprisonment for collecting 702 million cash payment from same government without going through financial institution.

Details of the court ruling is still sketchy to be able to ascertain if the Court considered the 702 million naira cash as a proceed of crime or a genuine cost of service paid by the then Goodluck Ebele Jonathan led Federal Government through inappropriate means.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu presiding over the case on Monday ruled that Doyin Okupe was guilty of contravening sections 16(1) and (2) of the Money Laundering Act and accepting cash in excess of the threshold allowed under the Act without going through a financial institution.

Doyin Okupe is the current Director-general of Labour Party presidential Campaign Council, projecting Peter Obi as presidential candidate for the 2023 presidential election.

Reno Omokri while condemning Doyin Okupe and Peter Obi in different posts on his social media accounts some hours ago, said thus:

“Today, a court ruled that Doyin Okupe, the DG of Peter Obi’s campaign, is a criminal.

“This dishonest man is the same character that Peter Obi wants to use to clean up Nigeria?

“I served in government twice. Never was I ever accused of stealing a dime like this thief, who opens his mouth to talk down on those whose morals is by far better than his.

“Look at the kinds of people that Peter Obi allowed to deceive him to leave PDP.

“Doyin Okupe, a convicted criminal. Only in Nigeria will Peter Obi still continue to run for President with a thief as his campaign DG.

“No shame at all. And he wants to clean up Nigeria?

“Peter Obi himself was exposed by the Pandora Papers of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists as a man who allegedly criminally operated offshore accounts, now, his campaign DG has been convicted for money laundering.

“What a criminal team of losers! Look at their faces. Anini and Monday Osunbor!”.
