Ritual Killings, No One Person In Prison, Ban ‘Babalawo’ – Barrister Jefferson Uwoghiren
Human rights lawyer, Jefferson Uwoghiren has called on governments to ban spiritual or witch doctors often referred to as ‘Babalawo’ or ‘Native doctor’ following the recurring high rates of ritual killings in the country.
Barrister Jefferson Uwoghiren who based in Benin City, the Edo State capital in a message made available some hours ago said native doctors hiding in the various villages in Nigeria are the ones behind the thriving business of ritual killings in the country.
Barrister Jefferson Uwoghiren said in spite of the daily report of ritual killings, it is a terrible shame to note that no single person is in prison upon trial and conviction.
“Filthy ‘babalawos’ and those so called native doctors, hiding in our various villages, are behind the thriving business of ritual killings and forced disappearance of Nigerians.
“We need to urgently outlaw their activities and publicly hang them with the strongest ropes available.
“There is absolutely nothing to regulate about their monstrous criminal enterprise.
“It is a terrible shame to note, that in spite of daily report of ritual killings, not one person is in prison, upon trial and conviction.
“We need to outlaw ‘babalawos’ and native doctors.
“They are not offering medical solutions, but deaths.
“They created the market for vital parts sales and ritual killings. Enough is Enough”, Uwoghiren said.
