President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria has approved the removal from office indefinitely the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdurasheed Bawa over alleged corrupt practices while in office.

A statement from the office of the Secretary to the Government of Federation, made available few minutes ago indicated that the EFCC Chairman was suspended indefinitely to pave way for proper investigation into allegations of abuse office leveled against him.

Abdurasheed Bawa has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Director, Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation.
