As the world celebrate this year Mother’s day, Anambra State Governor, Charles Chukwuma Soludo has described mothers as the most important levers and as such central to the development of the society and socially acceptable humans.
Soludo in a statement few hours ago said mothers are important pivots in the family and as such they must use this year Mothering Sunday celebration to reflect on what is fundamentally wrong with quality of characters that emanate from homes resorting to persons who shed innocent blood, swindle others and abuse drugs in the society.
Soludo statement reads verbatim:
“The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world”
Today’s Sunday is set aside to celebrate Mothers in the Anglican communion, and indeed all Mothers.
As important pivots of the family, mothers are central to the development of Society, they are the most important levers for raising socially acceptable humans. Where there are too many social misfits, it becomes important to interrogate the role of the Mother.
We must seize this moment of celebration to also reflect on what is fundamentally wrong with the quality of characters that emanate from our homes.
Persons who shed innocent blood, swindle others and abuse drugs are products of families.
I believe it is time we revisit the family to reevaluate the “hands that rock our cradle”.
May our mothers find the courage to repel negative attitudes in our children, the wisdom to lead them aright and the forthrightness to insist on the common good.
Happy Mothering Sunday to all Mothers of goodwill.
