
Ulegun: Stop Planned Protest Over Arrested Palace Secretary, Oba Ewuare II Warns Youths, Organizers
Benin Monarch, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II has warned all youths and organizers of the planned Monday mass protest over the arrested, detained and remanded Benin Traditional Council Secretary, Frank Irabor to halt their plans.
Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare II gave the warning on Saturday in a press release signed by the Palace Chief Press Secretary, Osaigbovo Iguobaro as made available to OsazuwaAkonedo.
It would be recalled that Edo State Government under the leadership of Governor Godwin Obaseki, during the week, ordered the arrest of Frank Irabor, the Palace Secretary, following mass protest to Edo State Government House in Benin City by aggrieved residents who accused the Palace Secretary and other Chiefs, of conspiracy, which thus, the Palace Secretary led others to destroy and demolish over 60 houses at Ulegun community in Ikpoba-Okha local government area of Edo State on the ground that the developers built on Oba’s land.
Oba Ewuare II in the press release warned youths, that, he does not want to see any gathering either in the Palace or anywhere in Benin Kingdom on Monday.
“The attention of the Benin Traditional Council has been drawn to a planned solidarity gathering by the Coalition of Social cultural Organisations over the arrest and detention of the Secretary, Benin Traditional Council , Frank Irabor and some chiefs in Benin Kingdom.
“While the Palace appreciates their concern, let it be known that, the Palace of the Oba of Benin does not want such gathering at this time and consequently directs that the organisers of the gathering halt the exercise immediately.
“The issue in question that led to their arrest is being resolved.
“In this regard, nobody or group of persons should gather in the Oba of Benin Palace or anywhere in Benin Kingdom on Monday 5th September, 2022.


“This announcement is important for all those concerned to comply please”, the Press Release reads.
