
Unknown Gunmen: Conflicting Reports Over 5 Persons Killed At Soludo’s Hometown Attack
It is no longer news that Unknown Gunmen suspected to be Biafra secessionist armed group attacked, killed one soldier, and set ablaze Nigerian Army Patrol vehicle at a military checkpoint around Afor-Uzo Junction within Isuofia community in Aguata local government area of Anambra State on Saturday morning.
But there have been conflicting reports over five persons killed by security operatives, following the Unknown Gunmen attack at the country home of the Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
Many claimed, the Unknown Gunmen operated successfully, zoomed off before the arrival of back up security operatives.
Residents made available a video of the body of a lifeless Nigerian soldier during the attack.
In the video, the voice on the background suggested that the Unknown Gunmen were still in action in the Isuofia community when large numbers of the residents came out to see the attacked victim.
Information made available by the Press Unit of Anambra State Government on Saturday indicated that the joint security operatives gave the Unknown Gunmen a hot chase after they attacked the military checkpoint and killed four persons inside Toyota venza vehicle, the government press described as Unknown Gunmen.
The Press statement credited to the Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Paul Nwosu said the four persons were killed during exchange of gun fire between Security Operatives and the suspects.
The Press release reads:
“OUR GALANT SECURITY AGENTS NEUTRALIZE GUNMEN
“A gang of gunmen struck the Nigerian Army checkpoint at Afor-Uzo Junction, Isuofia this morning. But unfortunately for the hoodlums they met their Waterloo in a fierce exchange
“Our galant and alert security agents who gave them a hot chase immediately returned fire and neutralised 4 of the gang members a fierce exchange of shootings.
“Their Toyota venza with which they launched the deadly operation was recovered.
“The government of Anambra State wishes to reassure the people of their safety, especially during this yuletide season.

Nigeria Police Force in its report said the Joint Security Operatives killed five Unknown Gunmen and others escaped with bullet wounds.
The Police report credited to Anambra State Command Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, Tochukwu Ikenga indicated that security forces, comprising Military, Police, and other agencies in Anambra state have killed five unknown gunmen in Umuona, Isuofia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
According to the Police statement, the security operatives also recovered one grey Toyota venza SUV with registration number: KRD 344 BT.
Adding, the feat followed a distress call at about 10:30 a.m on Saturday from Afor Market in Isuofia, where some hoodlums, attacked a security checkpoint.
“The Joint Forces from FOB Aguata responded swiftly, engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel and neutralized five of the armed men while others escaped with bullet wounds in dark blue Lexus 470 jeep without a number plate”, according to the police statement.
Meanwhile, residents have protested over the killing of a young men during the attack allegedly by Security Operatives.
A video posted online showed large numbers of persons gathered around the dead victim.
Another video posted online showed Security Operatives removing four dead bodies from Toyata venza.
Voice on the background of the video said the four dead bodies were the Unknown Gunmen that attacked military checkpoint in Isuofia.
The video did not show any weapon or arms with the dead bodies.
The background voice and video may have been recorded by one of the security operatives that carried out the operation.
