
Zamfara Governor Bello Matawalle Imposes Sharia Laws, Asks Residents To Dress Modestly #OsazuwaAkonedo

Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle in a state wide broadcast few hours ago has demanded all residents in the state to adhere strictly to sharia law.
Zamfara State was among the very first states in Nigeria in 1999 to began the institution of sharia laws in the northern part of the country.
On October 27, 1999, Zamfara State Government introduced Sharia laws and laws came into effect on January 27, 2000 in a state mixed of religions, Christians, Muslims amongst others.
The Sharia Laws, according to the then leadership of Zamfara State Government was introduced to reduce and check criminality.

Zamfara state is today widely reported to be one of the most troubled states in Nigeria full of criminal activities.
Governor Bello Matawalle also noted in the broadcast that Zamfara state is now home to victims of armed bandits.
As we celebrate Idul-Fitri, I would like to emphasise the importance of adhering to Sharia law during the holiday.
I urge parents and guardians to ensure that their children dress modestly and abstain from all vices.
