EFCC Invites VeryDarkMan, Bobrisky After Audio Voice Alleges EFCC Amass Fraudulent Wealths From Suspect
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has invited Martins Otse well known as VeryDarkMan and Idris Okuneye aka Bobrisky following an audio voice made available on social media alleging that men of the anti-corruption commission collected money fraudulently to drop anti-money laundering charges against Bobrisky who in the audio voice also apparently paid a popular Nigeria lawyer, Femi Falana and his music star son, Folarin Falana aka Falz millions of naira bribe to get judicial pardon secretly.
Pardon of convicted prisoners are usually granted by the Chief Judge of a state, state governors, and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with public announcement or awareness.
The authenticity of the audio voice has not been verified but Bobrisky who is a crossdresser has denied the audio voice, saying, it was a fake voice recording made available in the public space by VeryDarkMan.
“My attention has been drawn to a fake voice recording circulating on the internet that I paid EFCC ₦15 million naira, and that I was never in prison. It is a very big lie. I served my term in full. Discard any false information”, Bobrisky released a statement, debunking the claims made by VeryDarkMan.
It would be recalled that it was a trending news when EFCC arrested Bobrisky in April, 2024 on six counts charges of money laundering and Naira mutilation.
During his trial at the Federal High Court in Lagos, Justice Abimbola Awogboro dismissed the money laundering charges (counts five and six) and sentenced Bobrisky to six months in prison for Naira abuse.
The judge imposed a six-month prison sentence without the option of a fine, stating that the crossdresser sentence would serve as a deterrent for others who mutilate the Naira.
Bobrisky began his jail term right from his first day of arrest by EFCC on 24 March and was released from Kirikiri Correctional Centre on 5 August.
If the sentencing was calculated on the basis of daytime and nighttime as a single day, it means he spend far less than six months in the prison but if the prison term was calculated on the basis of daytime and nighttime as two days, it means the crossdresser spent more than six months in the prison.
VeryDarkMan posted on his Instagram page on Tuesday a leaked audio of the crossdresser narrating what transpired during his jail term.
In the audio, Bobrisky could be heard discussing with a friend how the EFCC collected ₦15 million from him to drop the money laundering charges.
It was gathered that VeryDarkMan released the audio after Bobrisky refused to repay ₦4 million to one of the people he approached for the ₦15 million he reportedly paid EFCC.
The voice that looked like that of Bobrisky in the leaked audio could be heard, saying: “You know I’m a very big influencer. I have over 5 million followers on Instagram and Facebook, and Facebook pays me every month. Despite that, they (EFCC) claimed I couldn’t afford the [₦150 million] house I live in. EFCC charged me with money laundering and took me to court. We pleaded with them, asking how much it would cost to drop the money laundering charges, and EFCC said N15 million.
“I couldn’t use my account because I’m still under investigation and can’t withdraw or transfer funds. So, I called a few friends. One of them was Elele, and I asked him which account I should use to send the money. I gave him my brother’s account, and he transferred ₦8 million. I also called Demola in the US, and he immediately sent ₦1 million. Other people I trust sent money in, and we gathered the full amount (₦15 million); we gave them the money, and they (the EFCC) dropped the money laundering charge and took me to court for Naira abuse.”
Also, the looked alike voice of Bobrisky in the leaked audio claimed that he was framed after receiving his infamous ‘Best Dressed Female’ award at the premiere of actress Eniola Ajao’s movie, ‘Beast of Two Worlds’.
He allegedly admitted to pleading guilty in court, believing he would receive a fine or perform community service. However, he said he was sentenced due to his guilty plea.
The crossdresser looked alike voice in the leaked audio revealed that after his sentencing, his godfather, in conjunction with the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, arranged for him to serve his six-month sentence in a private apartment.
Bobrisky looked alike voice narrated further that, “The whole issue started when they gave me the Best Dressed Female award. There’s jealousy involved, and when I got to court, I admitted guilt, hoping for either a fine or community service. However, the court sentenced me. On my way to prison, my Godfather called and assured me I wouldn’t enter prison. He told me not to worry and said he would arrange an apartment near the prison and speak to the Comptroller General of Prisons in Abuja.
“After they spoke, I was taken back and brought to an apartment where I was told not to come out until I finished my sentence. They informed the guy at the apartment that their boss instructed them to keep me there and not to let me leave. The guy said he’d collect ₦10 million, so I had to call Elele again. Elele gave me ₦2 million because there was no one else to call”.
Bobrisky’s looked alike voice in the leaked audio also indicted Nigerian popular singer, Falz and his father, human rights activist Femi Falana.
In the leaked audio, the looked alike voice of Bobrisky stated and alleged that Falz and his father, Femi Falana approached him to assist with his application for a presidential pardon.
The crossdresser narrated: “I was supposed to be released at the end of July, but Falz reached out to me, and his father spoke to me. He said we could apply for a pardon, as my case is federal. He explained that the president could grant me a pardon, allowing me to leave prison without completing my sentence.
“The man (Femi Falana) initiated the pardon process and said he would send it to the Minister of Justice in Abuja, who would then forward it to the president. But, with Nigeria’s corruption and everything, the lawyer (Femi Falana) said he would need ₦10 million to ensure the pardon clears my name from the record. However, I have no one to call for the money because I don’t know which of my friends set me up.”

Meanwhile, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz and the son of renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN has given the social media influencer and acclaimed online police, VeryDarkMan a 24-hour ultimatum to retract alleged defamatory statements made against him.
The ultimatum was issued through a letter from Falana and Falana Chambers, demanding an immediate retraction and apology for the claims made in a post on Instagram.
The post accused Falana of attempting to secure a presidential pardon for Bobrisky in exchange for ₦10,000,000.
According to the letter, the defamatory remarks were made in a post on VeryDarkMan’s Instagram page, which suggested that Femi Falana and his son, Folarin Falana (Falz), were involved in a controversial matter regarding popular Nigerian crossdresser, Bobrisky.
The post alleged that Falana spoke to Bobrisky in an attempt to “divert justice” and secure a presidential pardon for the sum of ₦10,000,000.
The letter described these claims as “vicious, wicked, and reckless,” asserting that they were intended to tarnish the lawyer’s esteemed reputation.
It emphasised that Mr Falana has never communicated with Bobrisky regarding any matter, let alone sought a presidential pardon for the crossdresser.
The letter strongly refuted these accusations, noting that the statements were “false, misleading, and defamatory”, and sought to misrepresent Falana’s lifelong fight against injustice and corruption.
The claims, according to the letter, suggested that Falana’s advocacy was driven by personal financial gain and violated the Legal Practitioner Rules of Professional Conduct.
Falana and Falana Chambers made it clear that while VeryDarkMan is entitled to his right to freedom of expression under the Nigerian Constitution, he has a duty to ensure that any claims he publishes are factual.
The Chambers demanded an immediate retraction of the defamatory statements and a public apology, to be published across all platforms where the false information was disseminated.
Should the retraction and apology not be issued within 24 hours, the Chambers indicated it would pursue legal action, including claims for monetary damages.
The letter concluded by advising the recipient to address the issue urgently to avoid further legal consequences.
