Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has condemned the killing of travellers in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau state on Saturday.

Report from government officials indicated 22 persons were killed but eye witnesses account initially indicated 25 dead bodies were seen and now it is said over 40 of the travellers were killed.

The travellers mostly Fulanis were returning from Bauchi state after attending the annual Zikr prayer; to Ondo state when angry youths suspected to be Irigwe militias who were burying farmers allegedly killed by Fulani Heardsmen stopped the over 5 hummer buses conveying the travellers.

It was gathered that the angry youths used stones, matchetes, knives and other dangerous weapons to stab and hack the victims to death.

Irigwe militias in Jos butchered no less than 40 Fulani travellers on their way back home to Ondo state after attending a religious event in Bauchi yesterday.
This is evil. This is wickedness. This is madness. The killers are nothing but cold blooded murderers and vicious beasts!
Femi Fani-Kayode said.

Photographs made available indicated that some of the victims were killed and found inside erosion control gutters.

Others trying to escape were killed and found on nearby streets and compounds.
