Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has promised to tackle challenges in Plateau state if elected President of Nigeria come 2023 general election.
Atiku Abubakar made the promise today when he visited Peoples Democratic Party, PDP delegates in the state ahead of the party primary.
He said: “My consultations with leaders and delegates of the PDP in Jos this afternoon afforded me an opportunity to see some longtime associates.
“The Plateau, for me, is a homecoming. I am well aware of the challenges that beset the state.
“Our esteemed delegates agree that my campaign agenda is most suited to address those challenges.
“They also accept that my diverse experiences will be valuable assets in unifying the country and revamping the economy”.
Atiku Abubakar promise to address Jos crisis which for years has been witnessing insecurity as a result of mass killings between people of different tribes and religion.
One of the most recent cases in the state is the killing of about 40 Muslim faithfuls in the state by people who were mourning and burying their loved ones earlier killed by some group of Islamic extremists.
That aside, Atiku Abubakar competency as a true leader, worthy to be a head of government came to a doubt on Thursday when a female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Deborah Yakubu was stoned and burnt to death by mob of students over alleged blasphemous statement against Prophet Mohammed SAW.
Atiku Abubakar had earlier issued statement through his personal verified twitter and Facebook profile accounts to condemn the killer students.
But suddenly, the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar withdrew the statement.
He said his personal assistant on media did not get approval from him before issuing the statement to condemn the lawless act of the killer students who obviously abused the law of Nigeria.
Atiku Abubakar, till now refused to condemn the killer students who took laws into their hands.
Atiku Abubakar had been busy trying to question Nigerians’ level of reasoning, by thus, creating a new symbol to mark statement that comes from him and the ones he did not authorize.
He said any message published through his personal verified social media accounts that does have -AA sign at the end should not be regarded as his statement.
The question, many Nigerians are asking is that when a message on Atiku Abubakar personal verified social media account does not carry the -AA sign, who should we now attribute the statement to?.
Many considered Atiku Abubakar defense after withdrawing his statement against the killer students as deceptive and unreasonable as a leader most especially as a former Vice President of Nigeria under which Plateau state recorded inter religious and tribal war with figures of mass killings.
Many believed the attitude of some Northern elders and leaders towards managing lawlessness is the reason why terrorism is booming in the region.
As at the time of filing in this report, we have not been able to verify independently if President Muhammadu Buhari has actually condemned the lawlessness over the killing of the female student in Sokoto.
Though some media claimed they were forwarded a press release from the Presidency but could not state the person who authorize such statement.
President Muhammadu Buhari official spokespersons, Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu have not written anything publicly concerning the unlawful killing of the female student in Sokoto even when the issue is already becoming a more bigger threat to National security.
