Abba Kayri, 4 Others Now In Our Net, Some Yet To Be Indicted Will Be Arrested – NDLEA
Authority of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has confirmed the arrested former Head of the Nigeria Inspector General of Police Intelligence Unit, DCP Abba Kayri and four others are currently cooling off in the NDLEA custodian centre for the investigation into their alleged involvement over 25 kilograms of cocaine deal which the former intelligence boss was video recorded in a sting operation carried out by NDLEA Officials.
NDLEA had declared Abba Kayri wanted and accused the suspended intelligence officer of cocaine dealings along Brazil-Nigeria-Ethopia route.
Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba ordered the immediate arrest of Abba Kayri and 5 others but one of the police officers escaped arrest and currently at large.
IGP ordered the immediate transfer of Abba Kayri and other suspects to NDLEA and demanded that officials of the NDLEA also aiding and abetting the international drug cartel to be arrested and prosecuted.
NDLEA in a press release signed by its spokesperson, Femi Babafemi said thus:
Few hours after he was declared wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA over his involvement in a 25 kilograms Cocaine deal, the Nigeria Police Force has handed over the suspended DCP Abba Kyari, the erstwhile Commander of Intelligence Response Team (IRT) at the Force Intelligence Bureau of the Nigeria Police Force, to the anti-narcotic agency.
Five of the wanted suspects namely: DCP Abba Kyari; ACP Sunday J. Ubua; ASP Bawa James; Inspector Simon Agirgba and Inspector John Nuhu were driven into the National Headquarters of NDLEA in Abuja at about 5pm on Monday 14th February to formally hand them over for interrogation and further investigation.
The Agency wishes to assure that no stone will be left unturned to ensure that all suspects already in custody and those that may still be indicted in the course of investigation will face the full weight of the law at the end of the ongoing probe.
