Joint troops of the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services have successfully averted an imminent attack on Kano by insurgents. In a dawn raid operation carried out on the terrorists’ hideout in the early hours of today Friday 3 November 2023, troops of 3 Brigade Nigerian Army in close cooperation with the Department of State Services (DSS), conducted a well-coordinated raid operation in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State. The operation was aimed at uncovering and apprehending suspected Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) believed to be planning a major operation in Kano State.
Consequently, the troops swiftly swung into action and apprehended two BHT suspects, who are now in custody. During the operation, the joint troops of the Nigerian Army and the DSS recovered five AK 47 Rifles, five AK 47 Rifle Magazines, one Rocket Propelled Gun (RPG), five RPG Bombs, six Hand Grenades, five pairs of Desert Camouflage Uniforms, 10 pairs of magazine pouches and some Improvised Explosive Device (IED) making materials.
The interagency cooperation between the Nigerian Army and other security agencies as exemplified in the conduct of this operation, is a testament of the strength of our collective resolve to defeat insurgency and other security challenges.
The successful raid operation reinforces the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property of our citizens.
The NA remains resolute in its effort to counter and degrade insurgency and other forms of security challenges across the country.
We entreat members of the public to be vigilant and collaborate with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid in the ongoing operations to curb insecurity.

SEVEN BANDITS MEET THEIR WATERLOO IN KADUNA…As Farmers Display Act of Bravery
Following a clearance operation conducted by troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army and Operation Whirl Punch in the general area of Kampanin Doka village at Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State, 4 bandits who have been terrorizing the locals have finally met their waterloo on 1 November 2023. During the operation, troops recovered one AK 47 rifle, one AK 47 magazine, one machete, one mobile phone and fourteen Motorcycles from the criminals.
In a related development, on 2 November 2023, some farmers who were harvesting their crops at the western part of Sabon Sara village fled their farms and alerted troops of bandits attack. The troops on receipt of the information quickly mobilized to the area. Upon arrival, four of the farmers courageously joined the troops and neutralized one bandit while others withdrew in disarray with gun shot wounds.
The troops recovered two AK 47 rifles while one of the farmer, Mallam Abdulrahman Aliyu who sustained minor injuries during the encounter was immediately evacuated to a nearby military hospital for treatment.
Similarly, on 3 November 2023, acting on credible intelligence, troops carried out clearance operation around the general areas of Kankomi, Juji, Gwantu, Kujeni, Kikwari and Kaso all in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Troops made contact with bandits and successfully neutralized two of the criminals. Items recovered include one AK 47 rifle, one AK 47 magazine, four 7.62MM Special ammunition, one Honda motorcycle and one Techno phone.
The General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Operation Whirl Punch, Major General V.U Okoro has commended the troops for their gallantry and specially applauded the farmers for their act of bravery. He charged the troops not to relent until all terrorists, bandits and all criminal elements in the Division’s area of responsibility are completely neutralized.

JOINT ARMY POLICE TROOPS RESCUE TWO KIDNAPPED CORPS MEMBERS IN KATSINA
In a joint operation on Thursday 2 November 2023, the troops of 17 Brigade Nigerian Army in collaboration with the Nigerian Police, have rescued two Corps members who were kidnapped by bandits in Yargoje community, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State. The courageous effort of the security forces led to the extrication and safe return of the abductees.
The criminals abducted the Corps members while they were transiting from Edo to Katsina State. The quick response and rescue demonstrated by the joint effort of the 17 Brigade Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Police resulted in the successful rescue of the victims from their captors.
The rescued Corps members have been offered necessary medical attention and support to ensure their physical and emotional well-being and are currently in the custody of the Nigerian Police in Kankara.
The Nigerian Army continues to solicit the cooperation and support of the public in providing timely and relevant information to enhance troops’ proactive operational engagement of criminal elements threatening the security of the nation.
