President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria has assured the citizens that the country will be peaceful, prosperous and stable.
President Bola Tinubu, according to the news release signed by Dele Alake, the Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy, made the statement on Wednesday in Lagos while speaking with reporters after observing the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at Dodan Barracks prayer ground, the President stressed the need for unity and cooperation, appealing to Nigerians to eschew ethnic and religious rivalries.
It would be recalled President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived Lagos State from London yesterday and received at the airport with a long convoy of vehicles.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while noting that Allah would not burden the country with what it cannot bear, the President said in quote:
”I thank Almighty Allah for keeping us in good health till today and pray to Him to grant us robust health and prosperity. May our sacrifices turn to prosperity. We have to make the sacrifices and that is clear, we have to.
”But Allah will not give you a burden that you cannot carry. He is there for us. We must have faith in the country. Have faith in ourselves, believing that as citizens of this country, we must join hands to build the nation.
”No religious identity, no tribal identity, let us live with one another in joy and prosperity. Nigeria will see peace, stability and God will grant peace to those of us at the warfront.”
The news release reads further that the President also used the occasion to pray for Nigerian troops in the frontline in the fight against insurgency, saying it is his earnest desire and that of the nation that they emerge victorious.
The Eid prayer, which started at 9 a.m, according to the news release,s was led by the Chief Imam of Lagos State, Sheikh Sulaiman Oluwatoyin Abu-Nolah.
“The Chief Imam later performed the obligatory slaughtering of ram at the Eid prayer ground in celebration of the significance of the noble act of Prophet Ibrahim in total obedience to Allah’s command.
“Speaking on behalf of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat felicitated Muslims across Nigeria and in the state for the joy of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging them to unite behind President Tinubu in his determination to make the country better.
“It is our duty to pray for our leaders. We must pray for our President that God should help him to succeed in the task before him.”
The prayer was attended by the Chief of Staff to the President, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, former Governor of Lagos State and immediate past Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Honourable Mudashiru Obasa, among other notable government officials and top politicians.
Meanwhile, the long convoy of vehicles filled mostly with security operatives and party faithfuls that received President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Airport yesterday has generated alot of comments and reactions among Nigerians.
While some persons described the President as the leader in world escorted with the longest convoy of vehicles, others accused the President of removing fuel subsidy to allegedly waste tax payers money on frivolities.
But one of the respondents, Akinjide Jide Babalola in his opinion via Facebook, said, the video showed there were several convoys that temporarily fused into one, just to follow the President on his first visit to Lagos for Sallah..
According to Akinjide, Chief of Staff and immediate past Nigeria Speaker of the House of Representatives, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser, Alhaji Nuhu Ribadu and Lagos Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Lagos State former Governor, Babatunde Fashola, Lagos State government officials, state and federal legislators, as well as numerous other federal officials can’t be held back after receiving the President at the airport.
“Could this entire motorcade be the President’s official vehicles? No!
Does President Tinubu or the Presidency need to fuel vehicles for all these officials? No!
“Can this video or any other matter be deliberately (mis)interpreted in ways that justify deliberate bias, negativity, and propaganda? Yes!
“For some, negative perceptions and propaganda must continue long after electoral contests, and people have a right to their opinion, no matter how jaundiced it sometimes appears to be. But crying does not necessitate closing the eyes’ entire vision.
“Ask whether anyone truly believes that all these are vehicles from the presidential villa or not and from the responses, you’ll understand something more about human perception.
“If a passing convoy excites anyone more than the glory of this day, let him be!”, Akinjide stated.
