Plane Evacuating Fleeing Sudanese Citizens Crashes
Cargo plane, Astral Aviation evacuating fleeing Sudan citizens who have been stranded for days at the Paloich area of Upper Nile State in the South Sudan has crashed.
The plane crashed on landing on Friday afternoon at Juba International Airport in South Sudan.
The Cargo plane with 300 passengers onboard overran the runway at Juba International Airport, according to multiple sources.
It was gathered that the aircraft was hired by a businessman, Bibi Ali as a goodwill gesture to ferry stranded Sudanese citizens at Paloich in Upper Nile to Juba.
It was also gathered that Astral Aviation Boeing 727-200 overran the end of runway 13 at Juba International l Airport in South Sudan, coming to a stop on soft ground.
No casualties have been reported.
According to a source, the aircraft was to do seven trips from Paloich but has this afternoon overran the runaway after completing only 3 trips.
