Police in Imo State have began a search rescue for the sole administrator of the Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, Christopher Ohizu, according to the State Police Spokesperson.
The council boss was kidnapped after the Unknown Gunmen set ablaze his country home in the Imoko community in the Arondizuogu area of the state.
It was gathered that the Unknown Gunmen kidnapped Christopher Ohizu with two others after burning his house.
Imo State Police spokesperson, Henry Okoye, said that all measures have been put in place for the rescue of the victims and for the suspects to be apprehended.
Okoye said, “On January 20, 2023, at about 01:00 a.m, some armed gunmen number yet unknown attacked the home of the Sole Administrator (SOLAD) of Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, Mr. Christopher Ohizu ‘m’, shot him on his leg, shot his two security dogs, burnt his house, abducted him and two others, one Christopher Okeke ‘m’ and Onyedikachi Kanu ‘m’ after which they drove away to an unknown destination with one of the SOLAD’s vehicles.
“Operatives of Imo State Police Command including the APC (Armoured Personnel Carriers) crew are on the trail to ensure the instantaneous release of the captives, possible apprehension and prosecution of the perpetrators of this dreadful crime.”
Christopher Ohizu was kidnapped by Unknown Gunmen on Thursday at his country home after the attackers rained bullets on his premises.
The attack on the council boss is coming less than a week after the home of the spokesperson of Coalition of United Political Parties, Ugochinyere Imo, was attacked at Akokwa community in the same Ideato North Local Government Area, with three persons killed and about 50 vehicles razed.
