
Tinubu Reopens NYSC Camp, Corps Member Posting To Borno
Thirteen years after, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led government has reopened the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC programmes in Borno, State, with a claim that the state is now peaceful following the successes recorded by security operatives against Boko Haram and other terrorists.
It would be recalled that the mandatory one year NYSC programme for all graduating Nigeria students from age 30 below was suspended in 2010 due to high level of Boko Haram and other terrorists activities in Borno State.
Information from the Nigerian Army Public Relations department few hours ago indicated that the NYSC orientation camp has been reopened in the state and photographs of Corps members at the Orientation camp opening on Tuesday made available by the army.
The Nigerian Army in a news release said in quote: “The NYSC Orientation Camp has reopened in Maiduguri, Borno state on Tuesday 22 August 2023 after 13 years it was suspended due to the insurgency.
“The resumption of camp orientation activity signifies that peace has returned to the state as gallant troops of OPERATION HADIN KAI (OPHK) have continued to record successes in the ongoing Counter Insurgency and Counter Terrorism operations in the Northeastern states of Nigeria”.
