Unknown Gunmen Invade Oba, Anambra State, Kidnapped One

Unknown Gunmen invaded Oba community in Anambra state, blocked the Onitsha-Owerri road and Kidnapped a man after hours of sporadic gun shooting to scare residents and vigilante group members away.

The attack occurred few hours ago between the period of 7 and 8 pm.

It was gathered that the Unknown Gunmen in different groups with two Hilux vehicles stationed along the Onitsha-Owerri road between Rojenny Tourist Village and New road junction, while the other group positioned at Top ten area of the road.

Eyewitnesses said a driver of a Prado Jeep with plate number BNDQIGX was Kidnapped after he was overtaken at an Estate gate close to Rojenny Tourist Village.

Residents said the Kidnapped victim may be the target of the unknown gunmen but they were lucky that the Unknown Gunmen bullets didn’t meet them.

One of the passersby said he was returning home and unaware of the attack, ran into the unknown gunmen who mistook him for member of the vigilante group, one of the gunmen started shooting directly at him, adding, God Almighty spared his life.

It was gathered that the vigilante group members at the Estate gate quickly closed the entrance gate and scampered for safety while the Unknown Gunmen chased them into the nearby street, shooting sporadically at them.

Residents and other persons who were at the beer parlours along the nearby street also scampered for safety.

Information from the residents indicated that no one was killed or injured but some of the eyewitnesses expressed shock that despite the low level shooting of the unknown gunmen into the nearby street where both children, women and young boys were on the road having fun, none of the bullets hit or meet any body.

Eyewitnesses also added that the Unknown Gunmen made several efforts to set ablaze the Prado Jeep after taking away the driver, shooting severally into the fuel tank but to no avail.
