Russian Ministry of Defence has confirmed the multiple attacks launched by unknown Sympathizers which led to the killing of two persons after the shelling in the Russian region of Belgorod.
Sky News quoted Moscow, the Russian government that two persons were killed during the attacks which the Russian military showed CCTV footage on how it repelled the multiple attacks launched from different directions on Thursday with high precision weapons including air capabilities.
In recent times, Sympathizers mostly Russians like the Russian Volunteer Corps dominated by nationalist and far-right fighters and the Free Legion which maintains and claimed that it comprises “anarchists, leftwingers and nationalists”, as well as people who had little interest in politics until Russia’s invasion, have launched several attacks in their own territory against President Vladimir Putin led military in support of Ukraine.
Any of the groups is yet to claim responsibility for the Thursday multiple attacks in Belgorod.
According to the Russian military authority, Russia army repelled attacks from multiple directions and accused Ukraine to be involved the multiple attacks.
Russian defence ministry said it thwarted three cross-border attacks in Belgorod, accusing Ukraine of using what it said were “terrorist formations”.
The Russian defence ministry added that the attack involved up to 70 militants, five tanks, four armoured vehicles, seven pick-up trucks and a Kamaz truck.
It would be recalled that in an interview, Russian President, Vladimir Putin condemned the large-scale drone attack on Moscow on May 30th, 2023 and described it as a “terrorist act” allegedly carried out by Ukraine.
While he praised the country’s air defence system, he also seemed to admit that they need to be ‘worked’ on.
The attack is considered to be the first drone attack on Moscow since the war in Ukraine began on February 24, 2022. However, Russia has witnessed several such strikes recently, including the alleged drone attack on the Kremlin.
