Unspecified numbers of soldiers have been killed on Wednesday morning in Imo and Anambra states.
As at the time of filling in this report, deadly Unknown Gunmen are still on rampage, moving from one location to another.
The Unknown Gunmen, looking so deadly, took the war to men of the Nigerian Army special checkpoint along the Onitsha-Owerri road at Mgbidi community in Oru West Local Government Area of Imo state for a face to face battle, leaving four persons believed to be soldiers dead.
Residents said there could be other casualties as some of the soldiers escaped the attack with bullets wounds.
It was gathered that the deadly Unknown Gunmen suspected to be members of the Biafra secessionist armed group attacked the soldiers at the early hours of 5 a.m today.
The attack, we learnt, forced the Mgbidi market to remain scanty since morning and road users plying the Onitsha-Owerri road faced difficulties, passing through the Mgbidi area to their destinations.
Few hours after attacking soldiers at Mgbidi community, the deadly Unknown Gunmen moved to Umuze, the administrative headquarters of Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, killing over four soldiers and destroying business activities in the area.
The attacks have forced commercial banks in Umuze, Mgbidi, Uli, Ihiala among other troubled areas to close operation.
