Islamic State in West Africa Province, ISWAP, has released a video and said it’s responsible for the Kuje Prison Break that occured on Tuesday in Abuja, the Nigeria seat of power.
In the 38 seconds video, ISWAP said it freed dozens of its fighters at the Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja.
The video shared online on Wednesday evening, ISWAP showed some of its men shooting their way into the facility.
Some of the fighters were seen marching in groups while vehicles and buildings were on fire in the video.
The Islamic State’s A’maq Agency released the video with a caption.
The words were written in Arabic.
“Islamic State fighters penetrated the prison of the Nigerian government yesterday, in Kuje city, on the outskirts of the capital, Abuja, after demolishing its walls, and successfully liberated dozens of prisoners.”
