
5 Days Sit-at-home: Unknown Gunmen Kill 15 Traders, Residents, Travellers In Enugu
Not less than 15 persons have been killed on Saturday being the second day of the 5 days sit-at-home ordered by Unknown Gunmen in Enugu State.
Information from Ngwo community in Enugu State indicated that the unknown gunmen as early as 6:30 a.m on Saturday morning started shooting at traders at the popular New Market in the area.
It was gathered that some travellers using the bendy Milliken Hill road at 9th Mile-Ngwo community were also hit by the bullets of the unknown gunmen. The Milliken Hill road is usually used as alternative route for travellers coming through or from Onitsha to avoid the bad spots at Onitsha-Enugu high way within the 9th mile community.
9th Mile-Ngwo community is the country home of Mrs. Bianca, the wife of late Biafra war Lord, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu.
Unknown gunmen also set ablaze a Hilux van after shooting at the victims which included some passers-by residents.
Videos posted online saw some loved ones mourning the dead at a location opposite Colliery Hospital among other spots in the New Market area.
Residents said the Unknown Gunmen in large numbers stormed the market and shot sporadically and indiscriminately at anyone on sight.
