Police Arrests Armed Robber, Kidnapper Who Dress Like Physically Challenged Person
Men of the Nigeria Police Force has arrested a man who dressed like a mad person to rob and kidnap his victims in Lagos State.
This was made known on Thursday when the suspect was paraded among other criminal suspects arrested by the police in Abuja.
According to the Police Public Relations officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the suspect pretend to be a mad person to get close to his victims to kidnap or rob them.
In his words, the police public relations officer said: “The operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in their quest to tackle crimes and criminality across the country have once again recorded milestone achievements in various areas.
It is our responsibility as the lead Security Agency in Nigeria to update the public of our efforts to curb the menace of crimes in our society, and also educate Nigerians on the series of antics adopted by Criminals so as to guide against them.
For instance, our operatives in Lagos State and FCT Command, having intensified their operational strategies, have successfully arrested several criminals connected to atrocious crimes. Among these is the arrest of one Olaseinde Ojo ‘male’, a suspected armed robber and kidnapper at Post Office, Isokoko who disguises as a lunatic to get close to his victims and rob or kidnap them.
Another arrest was made along Dolphin Bridge when the police operatives patrolling that axis intercepted a dispatch rider identified as Samson Shina ‘male’ in possession of a locally made pistol and some charms.
Similarly, operatives of the FCT command on stop (and) search duty around Taxi Park area, Abuja, accosted a motorcycle carrying 3 passengers one Usman Musa ‘male’ and 2 others, and found in their possession a locally fabricated Beretta pistol with 11 rounds of live ammunition. Search conducted in their premises also led to recovery of $5,800 fake dollar notes and other incriminating items.
Amid rising concerns about personal safety, the Nigeria Police urges citizens to remain vigilant and prioritize their security. With recent reports highlighting various incidents, including thefts, defilement, and assault, it’s essential for individuals to take proactive measures.
These include being sensitive to their surroundings, especially in unfamiliar areas, and avoiding isolated or poorly lit places, particularly at night.
Moreover, members of the public are encouraged to keep their belongings secure and to report any suspicious activities to the authorities promptly.
By staying alert and cautious, everyone can play a role in fostering a safer society for all, and we will not fall into the antics of the criminals”.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, played host to the Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, along with the Minister of State for Police Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim, the Executive Secretary, Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Abdullahi Bala and other Management Members of the Ministry of Police Affairs.
The minister and his team paid the working visit on Friday at the IGP’s Smart Conference Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Olumuyiwa said; “During the meeting, the Honourable Minister reiterated the government’s unwavering support for the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing efforts towards modernization and professionalism. The Minister underscored the importance of equipping law enforcement personnel with the necessary tools, training, and resources to effectively carry out their duties while ensuring the protection of citizens’ rights and safety.
In his response, the Inspector General of Police assured the Minister of the Nigeria Police Force’s steadfast dedication to becoming a service-driven, people-friendly, and rule of law-compliant institution. He highlighted ongoing initiatives within the Force aimed at enhancing community engagement, promoting transparency, and fostering accountability.
The Inspector General of Police, while appreciating the Honourable Minister and his team for the working visit which provided an opportunity to review ideas towards improved security in the country, emphasized the significance of collaboration between the Ministry of Police and the Nigeria Police Force in achieving the shared objectives of building a safer and more secure society for all citizens”.
